INISGHTS FROM THE FIELD: TEACHER INTERVIEWS
Volunteers play a critical role at Hogar. With more than 300 volunteers across the various departments and sites, volunteers outnumber Hogar employees 20 to 1. We simply could not serve thousands of immigrants and their families each year were it not for the generosity and dedication of our volunteers. They teach English, prepare brown-bag lunches for the homeless, complete client intakes, prepare applicants for the US citizenship interview and exam, and often provide a compassionate ear for our clients and students. Click on the appropriate link below to learn more about volunteer positions available for: Education Services If you are interested in helping Hogar achieve its mission, please fill out the Volunteer Application form and e-mail it to volunteer.hogar@ccda.net. RESOURCES FOR CURRENT VOLUNTEERS The Teacher’s Toolbox includes: E-nunciations Online Newsletters Hogar uses wikis to facilitate volunteer and staff communication. What is a wiki? A wiki is essentially a website that allows multiple users to edit the content. There are three wikis where volunteers can access information about our weather policy, volunteer policy, and news and announcements:
http://hogarhispano.wikispaces.com/,
https://catholiccharitiesesl.wikispaces.com/, and
https://ctr.wikispaces.com/. Most importantly, teachers and staff can communicate with each other inter-site and intra-site. For information regarding the wikispaces used by Hogar, please contact Shanna Wood.
